Oh god even as someone who is sympathetic towards Richard III (as in, he was probably a grey area like pretty much every medieval monarch - not a complete monster nor a saint) I couldn't even with The White Queen. Just make me watch an hour of him making moon eyes at the camera if you think he was so wonderful and flaw-free Philippa!

The forest was hilarious. And the fact it was August and yet looked like it was snowing? Also Margaret Beaufort was NOT on the battle field to pop up right at the end. The actual probably made up thing about Henry finding the crown hanging from a bush is bad enough for folkloric convenience, but more believable than mummy showing up to throw her weight around.

Then there was the hysterical "AS KING I COMMAND YOU TO BREATHE!" when Edward of Middleham died. I might have forgiven that neither Richard nor Ann were around when he died (though iirc according to one account they were devastated and openly grieved) if it hadn't been for THAT shitty line.

Finally the (based purely on speculation) wooing of his niece that seemed to come out of nowhere and suddenly he really hated Anne/Anne hated him and got super paranoid even though, again, Richard was pretty devastated when Anne died.. By that point I just wanted Bosworth to show up and put me out of my misery. After working so hard to make Richard an angel suddenly we're expected to think of him as a bit of a bastard trying to cheat on his wife? It was like 10 minutes tops of sudden character development.

I try to give historical fiction a lot of passes because nobody watches historical fiction expecting 100% accuracy but The White Queen was laughably shit. It was set during a fairly dramatic period of actual history and they somehow ballsed that up.
