The Princess Bride is a story with frequent interjections from the author, taking the guise of an editor who is presenting the "abridged edition" of the novel. He makes mention of, for example, how the full history of a kingdom is some ridiculous number of pages long and incredibly boring, so he cut it out of this edition to save the reader some trouble. The unabridged original doesn't exist, which is why no one has read it.
