11. Yeah, I used to be like that, and I think credit is nice, but really, I'm like fuck it. Being bitchy about it is only going get more people to do it to make fun of you. If someone else claims they did it and are asking for credit that's different though, but still not worth fighting the intrawebs over. u_u

6.) It'd be cool, but choosing WHICH fandom is pretty tough.

11.) I hate that shit too. It's 100x100 pixels of stupid Photoshop Tricks and they make it seem like it's the Mona Lisa of Icons. I could probably duplicate their shit with shit of my own.

2. That picture is weirding me out. Gah.

5. I care more about ...everything than the papers I write for school. >>

FF9 is slow but it's worth sticking at it, the pace quickens a lot once you get into it and past the tournament shit and all that pissing about. It's my favorite FF so I guess I would say that though :P I haven't played it through in a while, but I think it's around the time you get to Madain Sari that the plot begins to get more oomph. The latter part of the plot and the ending bosses & cutscenes are really worth the effort!

[identity profile] some-kat.livejournal.com 2007-02-22 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
4. I...I love that game. I can't stand playing through the first disc or so, but once you get past it, it's a lot better.

11. Mm..As an icon maker, I won't go rampaging if I don't see a credit. Hell, half the time I won't even say anything. But, I prefer it because if someone's looking through your userpics, you might want to see what else that icon-maker has made. Iunno. The argument's been going on for so long DX

2. As much as I dislike that pairing, that drawing is adorable. .__.;

4. I'm the only person I know who didn't mind the slow pace of the battles. The only thing that really got me was how slow some transitions were of vehicles and stuff moving... like... GOD can you please go any faster?! As someone above me said, keep going-- it gets better in the second disk. :D

[identity profile] lostremnant.livejournal.com 2007-02-22 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
1. I fully sympathize. It would be nice to chose the pairing yourself. But it would probably be a nightmare to program. Think of all the ramifications that the programmers would have to take into account.

2. Um...I'm not sure I understand what the problem is. You don't like cutsy pairings or you don't like same sex pairings? If it's the latter well generally pairing means romantic pairing (there are exceptions but romantic is the most common) so if you don't like same sex pairings then just say a male/female one. If on the other hand you are referring to cutsy, emotard relationships that make you want to throw up because they're so angstridden then yes I agree.

3. And the prince was such a dork too.

4. For some reason I never finished FFIX. I got pretty far into it but I just didn't finish it.

6. I've been sick of real life since I was in middle school.

7. Oh yes! I wanna be a Turk!

10. Well role-playing is a skill and like any other skill some people are good at it and some people aren't.

11. I would make an exception for icons that are really original (although there aren't very many of those are there). What gets me are those people who basically take screencaps, shrink them down and then insist that nobody else put text on them. Um...why? They weren't your pictures to begin with and all you did was crop and resize them.

lawl. I totally care about making props for the concert I'm going to tomorrow more than I care about any hw... I haven't done shit in the past two days X3

[identity profile] fairyfey.livejournal.com 2007-02-22 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
Like the Captain Crunch thing? :3 But that's so much more awesome than homework any day.

Neither have I, though I don't technically have anything to do anyway. Immersion, ftw!

[identity profile] queenie-z.livejournal.com 2007-02-22 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
Why do so many people think that living in a fantasy world would be better than real life? Would you really want to live in a world that's constantly on the verge of the apocalypse?

Real life isn't that bad, people. And don't give me your wangsty emo crap that "nobody in this world understaaaaaaaaands me :(((((((" because, like it or not, someone else is going through what you are, and there are people who want to help.

*Steps off of soapbox*

(Anonymous) 2007-02-22 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
Would you really want to live in a world that's constantly on the verge of the apocalypse?

YES. Fuck fairies and elves and dwarves. Give me a world at constant war, threatened by monsters, where you wake up every day to fight and each one might be your last. I personally would love it.

It has nothing to do with understanding at all.

[identity profile] queenie-z.livejournal.com 2007-02-22 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
Have you ever actually been in combat? I'm not saying I have but I have enough sense to know that it's not something that needs to be glorified, if the mentally traumatized veterans of Vietname and WWII are any indication.

I bet that, if you were really in said situation, you'd be begging to go back home to your nice, comfortable, relatively safe life. And if you have ever been in combat or served in an army, disregard everything I said and accept my sincere apologies.

(Anonymous) 2007-02-22 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
Fighting against humans should not compare at all to fighting against "monsters." The mentally traumatized veterans of Vietnam and WWII who were drafted into fighting a war they didn't want to fight on a massive scale is completely different from (as a more comparable example) wanting to live in a remote tribe and hunt animals with spears for food.

There's no question of glory. I don't dislike my life. It's quite nice. That doesn't mean there aren't other lives I'd prefer.

[identity profile] queenie-z.livejournal.com 2007-02-22 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe I'm just a softie, but I don't particularly get why anyone would enjoy fighting all the time.

Oh well. As much as I, personally, think your opinion is naive, rash, and comepletely mind-boggling, I will respect your right to have it. Just don't try going off to live with the gorillas or something equally dumb.

(Anonymous) 2007-02-22 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
It isn't respect if you insult it first.

My attempt to explain was pointless I see.

No use in arguing further.

In addition:

[identity profile] queenie-z.livejournal.com 2007-02-22 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
To me, icons are just like fan fiction and fan art. You'd be pretty pissed off if your fics/art got stolen and claimed as being someone else's. Most iconists are just nipping the plagarism in the bud by requiring credit to be given. Is it a little bit extreme for a 100 x 100 picture? Yes, but it's better than having people claim your work was theirs.

Not that my icons would ever be good enough to be used by other people in the first place. :')

[identity profile] queenie-z.livejournal.com 2007-02-22 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
I can respect the person without respecting their opinion. For all I know you're a pretty swell person; I just think that wanting to live in a world of constant combat against things that can kill you is foolish. It's the same as if you told me you hated my favorite pairing, or even outright insulted it - sure, it'd sting a little, but honestly, we all have a right to state our stance on the issue. Get over it.

(Anonymous) 2007-02-22 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
Sure you have a right to state your stance, but you're acting as though the other person's stance is completely ridiculous when it isn't necessarily. And there was probably a more respectful way of saying it than what you said.

Sure, you may think there's better ways to live, but we didn't always have the convenience of not needing to fight for life the way we do today. And perhaps some people would prefer they didn't. I think it's like someone thinking they were born too late, and would have rather been born at the turn of the century, or in the Victorian era, or the Elizabethan era, or even Ancient Egypt or whatever. Sure, most people would be like OMGNOELECTRICITY or whatever but for that person, they know that there wouldn't be electricity and they still want to live back then.

(Anonymous) 2007-02-22 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
oh, and this isn't the same person. Sorry!

(Anonymous) 2007-02-22 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
I am over it, or rather was.

You're the one being deliberately standoffish here. Read over the thread again. You asked a question (and insinuated that all people who think this way are aaaangsty and eeeeemo and hate their lives while doing so) and I answered it more nicely than I probably should have.

I'm going back to being over it, now.

[identity profile] happy-cupcake.livejournal.com 2007-02-22 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
1. If you hate it so much, you should look into playing dating sims (that aren't made by KEY) because you can choose the girl you want to be with.

2. I know, pairings are not always romantic. There are several pairings I like in fandom, but are not romantic parings, I just like seeing the characters together.

3. I know! I used to want to be a mermaid so badly. Not so much anymore, but I would if I were given the chance. I think Ariel just wanted a change.

4. I really found myself bored with this game too. I really hated how some of the characters seem kinda thrown in there <.<

5. Me too, hence why I'm failing everything right now. D:

10. Seriously! I was talking with someone that said she tends to be more "uke" since she's a girl. That's no excuse >.

[identity profile] queenie-z.livejournal.com 2007-02-22 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not changing my opinion, but after thinking about it, I probably did come off a little rude. For that, I apoligize.

It's still a little tough for me to grasp the concept of "I should have been born in the past" that a bunch of people seem to get. Then again, I don't grasp a lot of concepts because sometimes I fail at life.

>.<!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

[identity profile] happy-cupcake.livejournal.com 2007-02-22 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
Crap, it cut off my last comment!

11. To me, icon credit is just a way of telling the creator "Thanks for making this, it looks great!" and a way for other lurkers to say "Oh wow, that's really nice looking! I should see what else this person makes."

Being anal about it is kinda annoying, but I think if someone requests others to not use certain icons, it's better to respect their wishes and not steal it and cause tons of drama.

[identity profile] queenie-z.livejournal.com 2007-02-22 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
I love Zelos and Lloyd (Tales of Symphonia) as BEST BUDS FOREVAR!!!111 and Lloyd and *Spoiler* as platonic family lurve, in addition to Lloyd and Colette being my OTP of like, forever. XDD;;; So yeah, I know what you're talking about.

(Anonymous) 2007-02-22 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
Haha, it's probably not a case of failing at life so much as being happy with what you have. If you're content as you are, then sure you're not going to be able to see why people would want a change like that.
