.
So I get that they think that the Doctor just invented The Culture, but the "immigrants" who have to pay rent despite having been the ones who made the civilization possible in the first place by being the ones who built the robots, being all POC and the Robots being little white people who hold literal power of life and death over them if the "immigrants" don't act suitably happy or grateful; that is not a good message. Also the if you don't like paying tribute then sleep homeless is a bad message flat out no matter what color skin someone has.
It was a good episode right up until the magic reset button, a fucking literal magic reset button too, when they obviously realized they were out of time and needed to wrap it up. That is major backsliding after the season opener.
Plus it was just like they crashed The Happiness Patrol into the final two episodes of The Chase to get their concept. Really not happy.

(Anonymous) 2017-04-22 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)Haven't seen the episode yet, and it's certainly possible it'd be poorly executed, but on the face of it, this sounds like a good thing to do in general

(Anonymous) 2017-04-23 05:44 pm (UTC)(link)I also had trouble buying that the humans would be okay living there after their friends and family were killed, yes the robots were reset, but would that make people feel safe living there? I think if I were a human there my first priority would be to find some way to shut those things down. If they're like computers then there has to be an off or go to sleep switch.
