What was wrong with Bloodline? I felt that it being a few years before TFA was pretty on the nose?

My problem with Blooodline is that it puts Ben at 23 before he finds out that Darth Vader is his grandfather. He's also not Kylo Ren at that point and the way Ben is sort of shuffled off in the story. I know the book's focus was Leia, but I sort of have an issue with Ben becoming Kylo Ren at that age. After seeing the movie, I thought it made more sense if he became Kylo Ren during angsty teenage years and never grew up, but at 23, he should know better.
