Re: Is there a trope you'd like to kill permanently?

Yep. I remember one time a former coworker was telling me about a book she read where the explanation for why the serial killing villain was a serial killer was that his older sister and her friend molested him when he was a young boy. And my coworker thought it was so hilarious and was laughing about it and said there was no way being molested would turn him into a serial killer and that it wasn't really that big of a deal. (Which, yeah, probably not on the serial killing thing, I mean there are tons of people who were molested as kids and didn't turn into serial killers.) But a young boy being molested by his older sister is not "no big deal" or somehow less serious than a young girl being molested by her older brother. I guess it's based on that whole "guys always want sex and so they 'enjoy' being abused, especially if it's by a girl/woman" BS, which is fucked up.
