What kinks/tropes are you sick of people complaining about?

(Anonymous) 2017-04-24 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Whether you like the kink/trope or not.

All of them.

I'm mostly sick of the endless back and forth over anything that's popular on the Internet. The people complaining about it are just as bad as the people complaining about the people complaining about it and the people complaining about the people complaining about it are just as bad as the people complaining about the people complaining about the people complaining about it and all of them are still better than Me, the idiot complaining about literally everything on the Internet.

Kinkshaming. Why does everyone hate it so much.

As with any kink, because it's practiced on people without their consent. If someone gives you explicit consent to shame them for their kinks, you go for it bb.

"Doing something I don't like!" doesn't count as explicit consent.

This is a beautiful reply and you should be proud.

My personal opinion is because most Kinks are harmless, and people saying "You're a weirdo for liking feet/brunettes/diapers!" seems like a big waste of time, border lining on Trolling. If you don't like it, cool. You don't have to. Don't go around harassing other people for liking something you don't.

Yes! I love both of these and generally I don't care if people like the same things I like, but man. A lot of people don't like these, haha.

a/b/o for sure. like, people mark that shit, because people actively seek out that shit. I mean, you're very rarely going to get a surprise a/b/o fic. why bitch so much about it?

The first a/b/o fic I ever came across was surprise a/b/o fic, but that's because I had no idea what "a/b/o" meant. While it takes a lot to shock me, it was very confusing nevertheless.

Age gaps.

Not like actual pedophilia, but like...stuff between adults. Or like two years between teenagers or something.

Love triangles.

The seme/uke dynamic in yaoi. In fact, just yaoi.

Yesterday when people complained about Slap Slap Kiss. At first I was like, yeah, that can get dull fast when every show does it. BUT it quickly turned into people complaining about other fans shipping couples with SSK dynamics and how popular it was and oh noesss, why can't people see that shipping two friends who *like* and *respect* each other are so much better. At which point I stopped sympathizing.

Within my particular fandom, I'm not really sick of people complaining about any kinks or tropes, because, despite there being plenty of wank, overall my main fandom is very game for just about anything. We have ALL the tropes and kinks, and nobody treats them like they're stupid or annoying or weird. There are phases where different factions war about something be "problematic" or whatever, which is frustrating in its own way, but very few people criticize something just for being what it is.

But within F!S I'm sick of people complaining about most of the tropes/kinks people complain about on here. Because apart from noncon and underage stuff (and okay, a few other dark kinks), I like pretty much all of it, and have read a lot of enjoyable fics involving most of the tropes and kinks people complain about on here.

Basically any time the word 'unhealthy' or 'problematic' or 'abusive' or 'child' comes out in relation to a pairing. (assuming 'child' refers to a character who's not actually twelve or under and isn't aged up)

It's never "There's a worryingly large percentage of noncon Twilight Sparkle/Dumbledore fanfic." It's "Twilight/Dumbledore is unhealthy and problematic because it erases Dumbledore's canon sexuality and also Twilight Sparkle is a CHILD and that makes it abusive!" While they're shipping Twilight Sparkle/Snape.
