Re: Writer's Strike!

The writers are going to lose, because it's 2017 and the world is ruled by the Demiurge.

In all seriousness, it's hard for me to figure out what the conditions for a successful strike are going to be in 2017, especially when you're going up against massive international mega-corporations. I support the strike and I support the decision to strike but it's hard not to be pessimistic. The writers are going to get crushed like walnuts.

Yup, too many backstabbing bastards who see strikes as opportunities for personal gain rather than an opportunity for everyone to gain. This is why wages and living conditions are sinking in the West. We're too eager to stab each other in the back for a crumb than cooperate and get a loaf.

I'm not sure if this is what you're saying, but I don't think it's a problem within unions, or even really a problem with scabs. I think the biggest problem is the lack of broad-based political support for labor action, and a legal and political climate that's generally tremendously unfriendly to unions. It's just a very hostile environment unfortunately.

The political hostility is the reason we have so many scabs. It is the same damn thing

No, the reason you have scabs is because EVERYONE needs to survive, and some of those people have pressing debts, or children to feed.
