Holy shit...I just learned to snap my fingers. I was writing a reply about how I can't snap my fingers either, and then I tried it because I haven't tried in like a year, and I guess I tried it a little differently this time and it worked!

That said, I can only get a proper sharp snap sound every few tries, and it's really uncomfortable - painful even.

Out of curiosity, do you have really long fingers? I have really long fingers, and I think the reason snapping never worked for me is because my thumb doesn't meet my finger at the right place. I basically have to contort my hand and wrench my knuckle in a weird way in order to snap, and it feels super unnatural and unpleasant.
