Nah, having a crush on someone you've never met is normal. Taking that crush to extremes (i.e., if OP were to buy a plane ticket to the city his/her crush lives in and say, stake out the coffee shop around the corner from where crush lives in hopes that they'd be walking by some time and OP could rush out and confess their true love for crush) is not normal.

For what it's worth, I am not in love with them (I assume you'd have to actually know someone for that), I just like them lots and I admire what they do. I probably wouldn't even say hello if I were to bump into them someday.
