Re: Fanfic question

Yeah, usually caregiving activities too, brushing teeth, changing clothes, playing games, that sort of thing. Treating the other character like they're a kid.

If one person is treating the other like they're a kid in a caregiving sense while the other is acting like an adult and accepting it, that's not that weird.

If the other is acting like a kid on purpose, it's a bit weird and I don't know how that would stay IC enough to count as genfic and not kinkfic if it's not a character who already does this in canon.

I wouldn't be like, "what a perv" but I'd be like, "what is this hugely OOC thing doing here?"

Yep, I'm aware it's pretty darn weird. I dunno, I just really like reading/writing about caregiving stuff in fic with one character taking care of another, and this way it's happy and consensual instead of being because of something bad in a h/c way. I mean sometimes I'm in the mood for that too, put a character through the wringer and make them earn that comfort.

No need to defend your kink, I'm not judging it. Your question was would it belong in genfic and I was answering it with "not really, it'd be kind of weird." All kinds of BDSM, slaveplay, petplay, etc etc can be done nonsexually too, but it doesn't belong in genfic where the idea is canon and IC just because there's no sex.

It would be tagged properly of course, it's just if it goes in under the same name as my genfic or if I use a pseudonym for it. Judging by reactions here then it's looking like pseudonym might be the best bet.

Well, it's still kinkfic, just SFW kinkfic. Which does exist, like BDSM AU fic where, sure, this particular story is fluff but it's obvious it's a piece of a kink universe.

If you're trying to keep your official name "clean" then yes, it'd be odd to see like, an author with a lot of gen fics then one is randomly tagged as petplay-but-SFW!! and it's one character calling the other a good boy and feeding him dog treats and walking him around on a leash and collar because it's so obviously the author's kink/idfic suddenly in there with the rest. Because even if SFW it's pretty obviously your idfic. It's just not gen.

Like, the kinks themselves aren't bad, kink away. I don't think people here are judging you for the kink you have. It's the lumping it into your genfic and away from "the porn" as though it's not kinkfic just because it doesn't have sex is that's the weird part.
