I agree. It's why I like Maedhros and Maglor, but also why I find Feanorian apologists to be so infuriating. The Feanorians did awful shit. That's what makes them interesting. Trying to sweep it all away as justifiable is bullshit.

But having them deal with the consequences of their actions in a believable way is one of the most interesting things a fanfic writer can do. I'm especially interested because presumably Maedhros' victims will be reborn and he might eventually be reborn and they're going to have to find a way to live with each other since they're immortal.
