the New Yorker always puts quotation marks around the phrase fan fiction regardless of context, which I think is patronizing as fuck.

They do? Ugh. That really is patronizing. I bet the writer of any articles with the quotes probably has dabbled themselves and is too ashamed to admit it...and acts in this behavior. I see you writers...Don't front on the fic...
