Re: Disappointing movies
It's definitely not a movie for everyone. And that's okay.
Spoilers herein
(Anonymous) 2017-04-28 07:18 am (UTC)(link)I just watched Blade Runner for the first time last week, and while I really loved the idea of the film, and of course the look and feel of the world was epically cool, I got to That One Scene and it was like, "SERIOUSLY?!! IS THAT WHAT PASSES FOR CONSENSUAL AROUND HERE??!"
I'm actually kind of pissed off about the fact that most people either don't realize or just don't care that the protagonist basically rapes his love interest. Like, it obviously wasn't intended to be rape. It seems like it was supposed to be one of those "ravishment fantasy" scenarios where the woman wants it and just needs to be "tamed" or whatever (grumble grumble). But the facts of the scene make it basically impossible for me to call it anything but rape.
