-laughs- those EU books were a mistake? What outside of action figure sales and product licensing do you think kept the star wars fandom alive and going and gave George Lucas enough money to make reedit the old movies and make more Star Wars movies and keep every bit of Star Wars sets and costumes and memorabilia stored all those years?

Without Comics and EU Book sales there wouldn't be more Star Wars. Sure, lots of EU was a fucked up mess because somehow writing in chronological order escaped the publishers and George kept interfering. (Seriously, he had control over everything.) It kept the nerds happy and putting money and talking about Star Wars. It kept Star Wars in the public awareness. Just like it was supposed to do.

In that way, the EU and encyclopedias and the Art of Star Wars books and so on and so forth, were GENIUS.

Except they led the fans into this and now they're bitching and moaning at every little thing because it's not their precious EU.

I'd have rather no more Star Wars than the continuous whining and screaming that George Lucas is wrong for writing his story his way because it doesn't basically adhere to a giant fanfic's universe.

continuous whining and screaming... because it doesn't basically adhere to a giant fanfic's universe.

That's basically ever entitled fandom ever. The EU is a symptom, not a cause.

And you're not bitching and moaning?

Don't read the bitching and moaning. Problem solved.
