Re: Latest fanfic disappointments

Don't ever look back too closely. I started re-reading an old fic I loved, only to find it was not as good as I once thought it to be. I wonder if it was my age, the total exposition to fic entirely, or if my expectations and standards have risen. I'm afraid to look at other fics for this reason too.

(Anonymous) 2017-04-28 09:07 am (UTC)(link)When it comes to fics I love(d) in fandoms that I've moved on from, I choose to believe that they really are things of beauty- I'm just looking at them from the wrong side now.
Lol. Obviously this can be scene as self-delusion, but...IDK.
What I know is: I felt a lot when I read the fic the first time. The author meant for me to feel a lot; I read their fic; I did feel a lot. Th fact that their writing made me feel what they intended me to feel - that was real, and it doesn't stop being real just because my perspective has changed. *shrugs*
