I love when fic explores sex AUs like a/b/o, soulmate... and how it changes society, power dynamics, what is considered normal etc.

I do too! My favorite thing is when there's actual worldbuilding in a soulmark kind of AU and how that changes the characters and the culture (are there registries of people's soulmarks you can look up? has there been less stigma around same sex unions since there's a mark indicating they're destined to be together? is there stigma around not getting a mark?)

I find a lot of people don't like the predetermination in a/b/o but I actually like it because some authors do interesting things with the worldbuilding and the challenges the characters face.
