33. Bruce Coville! <3 I heartily recommend the “Aliens Ate My Homework” series (canon gay aliens FTW!). Gaiman’s “Coraline” is fantastic, and you might want to try out ”His Dark Materials”. I actually didn’t like it as much as some others, but it’s fairly popular. Oh, and Animorphs, though maybe just the first two dozen or so...

41. Whenever I think of this show and fanservice, I hear the Monarch crowing in my head, “That’s right! I’m blogging!” I think the writers all well-aware of their Dean-Girls (who are not to be confused with SPN Dean-Girls).

42. I wouldn’t worry about labeling yourself. I think most people actually don’t completely fall in the categories of straight, gay, or bi (which implies through its name that you like both genders equally, which… often isn’t it.).

Good. "Ride it like a stole it" just makes me think of the lust-objects in question being rode on the highway, getting gross, tarry scrapes.

Not to tout my total lameness, but I eat up all things Coville. I even wrote my senior thesis on him. :) And I'm old fan of Animorphs, too. But I haven't read that other stuff, so I'll have to try it.

Sadly, first time through, I didn't. I must have been ten. But I kept reading the series even AFTER I got into slash, but even then? Totally didn't catch it.

But then I was reading an anthology of queer short stories, aimed at teenagers, when I was 17. And I saw that Coville submitted one! I immediately thought back to Grakker and Snout and was all OH! Oooooh! Oh!

Seriously, I think they were canonically together, but Coville kept it so that it would go over the kids' heads, unless they were looking for it. I totally didn't catch it. I thought, as a child, that the really emotional moments between them, the awkwardness between Grakker and Snout's ex-girlfriend, the fact that they SHARED ROOMS, Snout saying that Grakker and he were "bonded," was just "They're really, really good friends!"

Mmm... now I wanna reread that series for the billionth time.

Oh, man, I didn't the first time either, but I was like OMG BEST FRIENDS YAEY ♥

... And sadly for me, I started shipping them even before I noticed the hints because I have a loev for best friends pairings (among others). o-orz. But then I did see the hints and I was like "... huh... this is... way more canon-ish than I thought..." And hearing that Coville is cool with/into writing that stuff, I can pretty much agree that it's a good chance it really is a behind-the-scenes thing. Those two just... asfjsa can't describe ♥

(And out of curiosity, what anthology, or what story? Do you remember? =O Do want.)

Not at all! Just so you know, though, I never update my journal. I made it about six years ago (hence the really, really bad name), and it's mostly around for keeping an eye on comms after a few months of blogging. Even my fan fiction's elsewhere.
