37: like I mentioned to someone above, I got the strong impression that the OP's annoyance is not that, OMG yaoi exists, but the very sympathetic feeling of, YAY, yaoi exists, but why can't het exist too? I can sympathize with this feeling because I ship a pairing that is just as hawt/screwed up/whatever as the fandom's favorite slash pairing... and while I would NEVER ask for less slash, I do wish people gave my pairing some more love so that they were equal.

Mostly it's the use of the words "scary" and "furious" that bugs me. If that kind of thing scares you, you need to get out more. It's not something to be scared of or furious about. Annoyed, maybe. Frustrated, I'll grant you. But scared? WTF?

But there's also the "I'm not homophobic but..." spiel, which is calculated to make me think the OP is homophobic, because 99 times out of 100, it's homophobes who say that.

I'm annoyed by this secret because I am one of those scary people who will read slash but not het. And it's just what I like, y'know? I don't like slash because the couples are hawt/screwed up/whatever; I like it because it's slash. I don't think there's anything wrong with that, and the OP is implying that there is. So, y'know, fuck that in the ear.
