I rarely get replies to my comments and it doesn't bother me. My previous fandom was mostly dead before I even got into it, I just figured people would like to get a nice note about their story, and I think that's helped me get more into commenting on new stuff.

I think some writers find it hard to find something to say in response to just "Thanks, I really enjoyed this!". Just imagine you're brightening their day.

Yeah, when I read stories now, I try to leave a comment if I liked it, even if it's not very in depth. Even if I didn't like it but the story had a lot of heart and seemed to mean a lot to the author, I'll say something. I'm writing a long fic with many chapters right now and I know how happy I get whenever someone leaves a comment. It's just nice to make people happy, and it doesn't take much time to do it.

Good on you man

ayrt

:D I just want everyone in this thread to chill, basically.

I have commented on a story that had a lot of heart a few times. Particularly if the author is writing their own spin on things in a fandom with a really established fanon.
