I know for a fact that there are anons here who are into my fandoms and/or ships, some of them relatively small. I'm also something of a BNF in one of those fandoms so I could be fandom-outed pretty easily.

For what it's worth, I try to have a valid complaint in my vague secrets that can be related to other fandoms. (In fact there have been some fandom guesses on my vague secrets that let me know that other fandoms do indeed have these exact same issues.)

Sometimes though, I just want to vent and I don't want to have to worry about it getting around. :(

I get that, sometimes secrets are a fun way to vent because they utilize more creative energy than just venting in the general comments or something. I also definitely don't think the fandom is always necessary, because so many complaints are relatable across many fandoms.

But sometimes I see secrets that seem to like... want us to try to guess the fandom/series/whatever, and I don't get why they just didn't say so in the first place. But hey, the secrets are still totally valid as long as the person making them is having fun, not all secrets have to be made with the intent of entertaining the masses.

I don't do the whole "picture related" thing where it seems to be like "haha guess". If that's what you're talking about, I promise those types of secrets aren't mine.I just write my complaints in a vague way, or sometimes say "character X", "character Y", that sort of thing. Sometimes I just need to vent about a certain fandom trend that's happening at that moment but I don't want to the to thread derail if I reveal the actual fandom because it will inevitably start people wanking.

Same here. Some of my ships I'm one of two writers or the only writer with any fic for them, period.
