DA,I have seen this happen. Though in my experience, a person is singled out and dog piled for x amount of time. They tend to stop when the person withdraws (from pairing, fandom etc) or they get bored :\

That beings said, I don't think that should stop ppl from shipping Poc pairings (even if the harassment can be hard to take.) Simply because those smug bastards shouldn't get the satisfaction.

(Racism should always be addressed, those that use it to bully others are pretty easy to spot and ignore. There are plenty of rational ppl to have open and honest dialogue with.)
