Or perhaps you could just assume that the OP isn't making vague secret just to spite you? I mean really, it's kind of nuts to assume that the OP is being a jerk just for the lulz and even more nuts to act like it's their responsibility to convince you that your (slightly paranoid) assumption about them is incorrect.

I've seen multiple discussion threads for vague secrets in which the OP is all over the thread responding to the guesses: "Nope, not that fandom," "Not that one either," "Ding-ding-ding! We have a winner!" They may not be doing it ~for the lulz, but they're obviously 1) willing/able to disclose the fandom, and 2) seeing some kind of benefit out of not just naming the fandom in the secret.

And I'm with the AYRT and find it really annoying when people do that.
