I'm not up to date on the comics, but one problem I see with ongoing comics is that character growth gets stifled in favor of returning everyone to whatever is perceived as the status quo at the time for fear of removing conflict or confusing people. With Jason, it's like being punished for caring about reconciliation or healing, or even just exploring the interesting dynamics of the batfamily. I can see why mostly stand-alone movies and games are preferable, since even if they don't have the character growth you want, you don't really expect it because it's a finite thing.
