The politician is Marine Le Pen. MLP are the initials, and I assume 'marine' is the french for Luna's dark blue color?

Correct, "marine" is the French word for "navy" (and the adjective for anything sea-related), likewise used as this pony' coat.

I'm so relieved. I don't like Macron and I'm wary of what he'll do to our social stuff, but at least we don't have a raving madwoman who would have destroyed minorities' rights and our foreign relationships.
