When one of my favorite characters died in the manga, there was a small group of people who were cheering for his death. Now with the second season of the anime the character is getting some more screen time, those same people are loving the character and feeling bad because he will die later.

I'm just really protective of my favorite characters.

I haven't read the attack on titan manga but sometimes anime characterizations and manga characterizations invoke different feelings in people. I don't think I've ever seen an anime where the manga and anime characters *all* have the same exact personality, in fact I've seen some where the characters are practically opposite of one another. It's completely possible to dislike a character in a manga and like them in an anime and visa versa.

You can also genuinely change your mind about a character upon revisiting their story, there are some characters that have annoyed me in the past but then I revisited a series and they weren't as bad as I remembered and I felt a little more sympathy towards them.

re: Attack on titan though, I am enjoying it being back and I really hope they don't have such a long gap between seasons again.

lol I am talking about Bert. Syringe-gate may have happened over 6 months ago but I am still super bitter about it.
