Hey guys!

I'm out tonight so I can't make an involved post. I think I will be in tomorrow and Wednesday so as of now I'm planning on putting the poll up Wednesday, and tomorrow I will list the recs so far and the books we've read so far for club.

Here's a link to yesterday's post so you can see what's been recced so far:

http://fandomsecrets.dreamwidth.org/1609750.html?thread=958333462#cmt958333462

Please post title, author, and a link to Goodreads, Amazon or Wikipedia for the book (to weed out troll recs).

What if the book doesn't have a Wikipedia article, isn't sold on Amazon, and isn't on Goodreads?

(Anonymous) 2017-05-08 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Then how are any of us going to read it?

(Anonymous) 2017-05-08 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Then you've fallen through a crack in the world into an alternate universe where the book was never written. You need to place an ad on Greggslist for someone who has a universe jumping machine to get you back.

(Anonymous) 2017-05-08 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
No, the book can exist. If it was self published, and hard to get.

(Anonymous) 2017-05-08 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
then - again - how the fuck are we here on fandom!secrets going to get it and read it

(Anonymous) 2017-05-08 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Presumably we are all meant to go beg the author to send us a copy at inflated prices.

I'd wager a guess the OP has just self published a book and is trying to get the word out there, and possibly try and con someone out of some cash.

self published books are usually available cheaply in ebook format on Amazon

To be fair, not everyone has an e-reader and reading on cell phones/computers can be eye-straining, so I don't think this really counts as being super accessible. That said, if it's available as an e-book on Amazon, then it's...definitely got an Amazon link lol

Post something to prove it's a real book (and preferably something not difficult for people to get). It doesn't HAVE to be from one of those sites, though I feel like almost all reasonably accessible novels will be in at least one of those places.

The Girls of Radcliff Hall, by Adela Quebec

Quickly looking on Amazon, a used copy of this book appears to be priced at $127. and there are only four copies, so it'd be hard to get a good discussion going unless we all want to take turns.

Seriously, what are you thinking?

(Anonymous) 2017-05-08 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, but it's got a wikipedia article!

(Anonymous) 2017-05-08 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Why are you recommending things just to be difficult

bit bratty, aren't you

That does not count. If you are doing this just to be a pain in the ass, go away.

Ah, the Beaton/Tennant troll.

OK. Even if you had a copy of this book (which I doubt) and it won the poll, what then? Are you planning to discuss it by yourself Gollum style?

(Anonymous) 2017-05-09 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
If it was on that free book site, but nope...

That is the Dragons in Ancient Egypt series, isn't it? I had forgotten it even existed. It is pretty good though. Deffo voting for that. And the Milton.
