The moral of this book kind of reminds me of the moral of that one Fairy Oddparents episode where Timmy wishes to see what the world would be like if he were never born and it turned out to be great with out him

"Do nice things and don't complain when people don't appreciate them, because they would probably be better off if you didn't exist"

Yeah, cause that's a moral you want ten year olds to learn

...To be fair, Timmy was kind of objectively a horrible person.

"You're not actually God's gift to the world, so don't walk around expecting applause for being a nominally decent person" is a lesson that too many adults still need to learn. If someone had told them that when they were 10, the world would probably be in much better shape.
