Re: Trigger warning: This is what rape committed by women really is

Because I don't think making two of the book's most lovable characters accessories to sexual assault is okay?

You're a dumbass. Clearly I'm wasting my time on you. Love potions cause someone to be in love. You're making someone be in love because it's what YOU want.

I'm assuming that if you're slipping someone love potions you're not asking them for consent.

So Fred and George are basically roofie-sellers, and half of the student body are rapists. Got it.

I'm talking about stuff that actually happened in canon. The book itself basically compared love potions and the fucking imperius curse. I'm not making shit up. Maybe it upsets you but it doesn't need your permission to be acknowledged.

Suck it up buttercup.

NAYRT--that depends on how many of the people/if any, handing out magical roofie candy, actually had sex with people who otherwisw wouldn't have sex with them. And I love Fred and George too, but yeah, they were potentially selling rape roofie candy. Just because I think they're funny doesn't mean nothing they do can have negative consequences. That's not how fiction or real ife works.

Another NAYRT: George and Fred did tons of terrible things and were utterly remorseless about it. They almost killed a Slytherin student by shoving him in a vanishing cabinet. They gave their little brother an acid pop which burnt a hole in his tongue... and lots of other stuff I can't remember because it's been too long since I read the books.
They were fucking terrifying, what are you talking about? The author didn't explicitly present them as bullies/awful people, but there's plenty of evidence in the books to support that theory. I could definitely see them selling roofies to make a profit if they thought they could get away with it.

Montague was a member of Umbridge's Inquisitorial Squad.

And I think any damage from the acid pops could easily be fixed by magic, since Ron wasn't permanently disfigured, so it's not the same thing as putting acid on someone's mouth in the real world.

Why does him being in Umbridge's squad excuse them almost killing him

it's not like they were planning on having him apparate in a toilet, the vanishing cabinet isn't supposed to be dangerous in itself.

Essentially, yeah. Sorry, twinstan. They were awful people, their pranks were cruel and they were consistently remorseless about it. Just because they were ~~~~~quirky~~~~~ and funny doesn't mean they weren't awful people.

This. A good example for the show/tell disconnect that happens a few times in HP: author thinks a character's antics are quirky and funny, and the characters are popular enough, so it works. But if you actually look at what they do, they are actually pretty huge bullies. But because they're written as "good guys" they can't possibly be that.
