Well, even there there is issues. You can't really infer the hypothetical lack of consent, can you? Your examples are all solid examples to me, I don't know if I'd go as far as calling them rape but certainly they are the maximum scummy you can be without it be short of rape.

But what about suspecting "if she knew how little my earning potential is, shed never look twice at me.... Hey, baby, I build rockets for NASA!"

The thing is, it's up to the other person on if it's rape by deception, which is the term for those.

I mean if you're totally cool with being a rapist as long as it's not like... a violent rapist, then that's your choice man. But the idea that lies that cause harm to others are illegal isn't a new one. If you go around telling people you're a lawyer and offering legal advice, or a doctor and offering medical advice, and you're not, then it's illegal. You don't get to say you didn't think it would matter if you told them you were a Real Lawyer or not when you told them legal advice, all that matter is if others think it's likely.

And yeah yeah, well some people have gotten off scot-free from being convicted of rape because if they drugged the other person unconscious first how were they to know he didn't want a dildo shoved into his ass until he bled? But that doesn't mean that most of civilization doesn't look at that like a toddler trying to argue they're not running in the house they're skipping really fast.

Cool ad homenin there, bb, and there's a big difference between lying to someone and drugging someone unconscious before sticking a dildo up their ass, jfc. And who's gotten off scot free for the latter?

I figure if I slept with a guy I barely knew* only because he claimed to be rich and I thought I could become his rich wife, I really couldn't claim any damage if he turned out to have been lying about his income, because even if he was telling the truth, there's no guarantee he was even going to date me, let alone marry me.

*It would be hard for him to maintain a lie like that if I new him better.

I'm tempted to agree, but where I fall down on that is: What if I'm wrong? What if the "Lying about my earnings to get laid" thing really is rape? The woman being stupid and gold-diggery does not mean she deserves to be raped. It also doesn't mean she deserves to be lied to, although I have a hard time being too sympathetic.

My big issue is less "She was being stupid and greedy while he was being deceitful, Fuck them both" and more "Does the deceit count as rape" and if it does it really doesn't matter how stupid she was.
