Sure, and to the extent that OP is just bitching about not being able to find more stuff that he likes, I sympathize with him. That's not the part that anyone really objects to I don't think.

I think the comparison to the 50 Shades of Grey discourse is actually kind of a good case in point? Because in the 50 Shades of Grey discourse, you can trace the tropes, and you can trace the origins of the tropes in culture, and the prevalence and appeal of certain kinds of writings, without necessarily condemning the tropes or the appeal or the popularity or the fact that people want to read them. You can even criticize specific works (like 50SoG itself) without doing that. And I think that's good, and the right attitude, and I think it's precisely what OP *hasn't* done in the secret, and that's what bugs me about it. It's just straight-up "anyone who likes this is dumb, a bad writer, and has bad taste". At least that's how it comes off.
