...Point, fanfic's pretty idealized as well as any other form of porn. But it was still a better sex education than what I got in high school. I didn't even learn what a condom was until I read a fic that used it since my school had an 'abstinence only' program, which was mainly what I was trying to get at.

Please please do not ever use fanfic as any sort of sex ed, you will only end up disappointing yourself and possibly getting false info. If you can read fic, you probably have an internet connection, and if you have an internet connection, there is actual real info out there for you to look at (srsly, just google "sex ed").

Sorry, this rant isn't directed wholly at you, but a disturbing trend I see in young fandom-ers in general.

I'm not saying fic should be used as sex ed, just saying that it was, sadly, the first place I even learned what safe sex was, even after having covered sex ed. high school. I really should've been clearer on that.

But uh, yeah. If fanfic is someone's sole source of information than that's a recipe for disaster right there.
