I see your points, but what it comes down to is that these Scientologists have certain beliefs, no matter how ridiculous they may seem to us. We're allowed to believe what we want, and they are allowed to believe what they want. The Bible itself may be fiction to some, but the truth for others. Even if Scientology is a business-based cult, it still has its share of believers who deserve the same courtesy as others.

Except that while Catholicism has largely gotten out of the practice of it, Scientology is still directly responsible for people's deaths, and is actually freaking dangerous.

(Whereas most Christians rather frown on using God as an excuse for hatecrims)

We still shouldn't verbally attack the Sociologists themselves. If anything, it's the religion itself which is the problem instead of the individuals. It's kind of like...Catholics who preform hatecrimes against homosexuals. Clearly they don't speak for the whole religion and Catholocism in general should not be based off the acts of individuals. It's kind of the reverse for Sociology: the religion itself may promote negative things, but to be so adamant about hating a person because he/she is a member is a little...harsh, I guess. They are not some separate species or anything; they're people too.

Actually, I think they do believe they're seperate beings. Or at least that, by paying the right ammount of money, they can get in touch with their inner alien.

Scientology actually sues people who question it or speak out against it. It condones harassment and violence. I'm sorry, but subscribing to Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism, or Muslim faith isn't subscribing to a religion of violence. There are people who chose to manipulate the texts to allow violence, but most people understand that those were written thousands of years ago. Scientology was created, what, sixty years ago, and has been responsible for deaths since then. Not deaths because a few misguided individuals interpreted the faith to suit their own ends, but deaths because that was exactly what their "religion" dictated and the people in charge followed through.

I don't hate people who belong to it, but I do think it's dangerous, and I always find the best way to deal with dangerous things is to laugh at them. Even though publically (not public here, public-public) laughing at Scientologist can be very dangerous in and of itself.

They worship nothing, and their gain is everything. Listing them among the religions based in peace and blood is an insult.
