Reread Fic

(Anonymous) 2017-05-17 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
How often do you reread fic you like? Do you have to wait a while between re-throughs? If so, how long do you have to wait to get the same enjoyment?

Depends. Porny fics I reread a lot (at least the specific chapters). Torture/non-con fics I reread a bunch too when I'm in a certain mood. Longer fics I only reread occasionally.

I would say that I reread fic in about the same way, and to the same extent, I reread other things. It's not something I rationally think about - it's just sometimes you get a hankering for something specific you remember and there's nothing for it but to go back and reread. Usually it does take at least 6 months or so, I'd say? IDK though.

All the time. Even though I have a ton of new fics I need to read. I got old favorites that I read over and over.

I usually don't but there have been a handful I've re-read, some more than once. I usually do have to wait a while. If I'm binging on the fandom, I may wait a few days or weeks. If it's a classic, I may find the hankering to go back even years later.

I'm like a little kid. If I like something, I watch or read it over and over. It's the same for every medium. I've watched a movie and then started it right back from the beginning again after it ended, and I've done the same with reading fic.

I reread fics and books, but neither more often than the other. Sometimes I'll reread something I really liked not long after finishing it, sometimes I'll look up something I haven't read in years, and sometimes I can't find something I'm interested in rereading, It sucks enough with books when I can't remember the author or title, with fanfic, there's also option c) the author took it down/the website it was archivec on went poof.

I have fic that I really like saved into a folder so I can re-read them whenever I want, they range from feel-good stuff to porn depending on what I'm in the mood for at the time.

I re-read a lot. I'm really picky when it comes to some tropes and when I find one that hits me just write I save it and will re-read whenever the mood strikes. Either the whole thing or sometimes just scenes or chapters.

I recently tried to read an old favorite from a past fandom and sadly the shine has worn away for me. :( I remember re-reading it so much, but I guess it's been too long since I've been into the characters/fandom, that it just doesn't hold that same appeal.

The thing I reread most often is really hot PWPs. I will also occasionally reread short fics if they were extremely good.

For everything else, though, years have to go by before I'll even consider rereading. I've been in my current main fandom for more than five years now, and I've just started rereading some of the fics I read and loved when I first got into the fandom. And to be honest, the main reason I'm rereading old fics is because I've read so much fanfic in this fandom that I'm having a hard time finding good stuff I haven't read. :/
