I still love anime and I'll talk about it with my friends, but I stay the hell away from the fandom. I remember the yaoi fandom being especially bad. So many creepy people and rape apologists. And the random guys who would call anything aimed at girls fujo-bait and make misogynistic comments. It's a shame that all those terrible people drown out the same ones who just want to chat about anime.

Oh yeah I remember when I was younger often feeling like I was caught between two types of fans- yaoi fangirls who didn't respect boundaries and fanboys who didn't respect boundaries. Some were okay but there were a lot of creeps. Being a young girl who was not into yaoi but just wanted to talk about anime, I had to talk to a lot of people to find the few I could relate with.
