Haha, I love them too. Though sometimes they make me sad. These birds normally socialize with many of their own kind, and fly around all day. Life in a house with humans can never compare. I mean, think about it. It's like keeping a child locked up in the same house for all their lives and never letting them leave or run around outside. If the birds are adopted, it's okay, but I worry the popularity of these videos will encourage people to buy parrots.

I would never try to discourage someone from getting a bird but I have to tell people to do their research. Gotcha's channel does a lot of that.

Why is it that people don't leave these missives about other domestic animals though?

I've seen Gotcha's channel do that, yeah.

And since you asked, I'm actually against domestication entirely. I don't think any animal should be forced to survive at the whims of humans due to genetic manipulation or displacement making them unable to be released into the wild. Sure there are lots of good humans, but there's a lot of bad or negligent ones too. They're forced to stay with us whether they want to or not, often in a greatly restrictive setting compared to their wild counterparts. I'm all for adoption, but I cannot stand breeders for perpetuating animal exploitation.

People are hypocrites which is why you don't see other people talking about it.

So why not go on about dogs and cats? For some reason it's birds that get this.

Uh because the secret is about birds?

I go on about cats and dogs when it's relevant. Besides, I've realized as a vegan that I have to be strategic about how I bring things up. Most people hate the idea that I'm against the domestication of cats and dogs but some can be persuaded to at least agree that birds should not be domesticated. If I can get them to see where I'm coming from with birds then it's easier to get people to extend that belief towards other animals too.
