The relationships Peter Quill has with Yondu and Ego in Guardians of the Galaxy 2 remind me of the relationships Henry has with Regina and Emma on Once Upon a Time.

Ego and Emma were Peter and Henry’s biological parents, but Yondu and Regina were the ones who raised them. They weren’t perfect parents, and both could be a little
abusive at times, but they were still the ones who brought them up and loved them.

Both Peter and Henry try to reject their adoptive parents when they discover their
biological ones, only to realize later how wrong they were, and Yondu and Regina both sacrifice themselves to save their children.

Yondu tells Peter that Ego “may have been your father, boy, but he wasn't your daddy” and I think the same applies to Henry and his ‘two moms.’

Except for the part where Emma repeatedly sacrifices her own wants and needs for Henry. And the part where Regina continually puts her own self-interest above her son.

As far as we know, Yondu isn't a rapist either.

Except for the time Regina sacrificed herself to stop Rumple from killing Henry.

...when was that? On the swingset in season 2? I stopped watching in season 3 and that's the only time I can remember Rumple thinking of killing him that looked like it might go somewhere. Was it in season 4?

It was at the end of s4

Neither is Regina.

You could say the same thing about dozens of other stories. It is a pretty popular trope with 'adopted kid' stories.

If you want to start OUAT wank just go ahead and do it, but this is some tenuous linking to a more popular property to try for.

How? The way Quill treats Yondu earlier in the film is almost exactly like how Henry treated Regina in the earlier episodes.

Hey, OP, I admire your commitment to trying to keep your Regina wank current.

Except (SPOILERS)

EGO IS AN EGO-MANIAC

He's fucking insane and genocidal.
I might not have watched the other show in a while, but I'm pretty sure Emma isn't manipulating Henry to get him to join her to destroy other worlds and then deciding "fuck it" and make him do it anyway if he says no.

Also, Emma didn't kill tons of her own children.

Heh, I haven't watched OUAT in awhile either, but put in those terms Ego and Quill have the relationship Gideon (Rumple and Belle's insta-grown son, *headdesk*) and Fiona, the Black Fairy, who is also Rumple's mother *double-headesk* have. She wanted his help to control and destroy all the worlds, claiming his parents didn't love him, and when that didn't work, she heart-ripped him.

Also, I don't agree with this secret. I hate when Regina-apologists claim she didn't abuse Henry in seasons 1 and 2. And season 4 onward Emma is so obsessed with Hook she kind of stops parenting Henry, and then season 5 happened and she became abusive (because she became the Dark One, but Rumple's worst abuse of Bae was keeping him under house arrest and killing anyone who looked at him sideways, not, as Emma did, ripping out the heart of her son's crush to control her and break Henry's heart.)

They've both been shit parents, and the shittiest part is that the show won't ever acknowledge that Regina was a shit parent because she's "redeemed" now, or that Emma has been a shit parent since Hook became her rason for existing, because she's The Savior and can do no wrong. Seriously, if I had to boil down all the reasons I stopped watching OUAT to one,it would be a tough call between "shit writing" and "OUAT's moral compass is broken."

Wait, they made Ego the Living Planet Star-Lord's father? No wonder I was confused as to whom exactly Kurt Russell was playing.
