What is this game about then?

Oh, and I agree. Media should show a better world that the shithole we currently have. Too many things focus on how shitty everything is and there does seem to be a lack of decent positive escapism.

Media doesn't have any obligation either way

No, you're right, I just can't understand why anyone would seek out more misery.

Ha, I'm in a similar boat atm. A friend dragged me to Alien: Covenant last night, and I ended up coming out wondering what exactly I'm supposed to be feeling. It's basically a story about a bunch of reasonably decent people who all come to horrible ends, where the most they were guilty of is some stupidity, maybe. The end.

Then again, I'm not much of a horror fan for that reason...

So there are no survivors in Alien?

That's a hard pass from me then

There are survivors.

Oh, good.

Still, I'd rather not get attached to cool characters only to watch them die.

I miss Hughes.

Alien the original, I'm pretty sure the female lead survives. Don't know who else. It's definitely high bodycount.

Oh, no I meant Alien covenant. I know Ellen Riply and the cat survive the first film. It was very important to me that the cat survive.

It takes place in a mansion where all the guests die every night, then wake up the next morning with no memory of what happened and repeat the day over. Your task is to sneak around and change things in order to prevent their deaths. It's incredibly well-written, but I felt like the story it was pretending to be had a much more intriguing atmosphere than the story it actually turned out to be.

Sadly, this seems to be a pretty common problem. I think it's far easier to come up with something mysterious and intriguing than it is to solve the mysteries and tie up the story successfully.

Definitely. It's one of my biggest writing problems. I come up with a mystery I think is really intriguing but then I can't find a solution I'm happy with.

Haaa I feel you! I am right now sitting on a premise I really love, and am 100% stumped about where to take it. It sounds cool. It sounds like a book I'd read. But how do I give it a satisfying end???

Yeah, I agree. The main ending twist, while done and written well, is one I've seen so many times that I'm just sort of sick of it.
