Yay for birthdays! I hope the cake turns out amazing (which I'm sure it will) and I hope the weather holds out. How old is nephew turning? Is there a theme for the party?

For once, I have no plans for the weekend. Mostly reading. And uh, the AC in my car is on the fritz (it broke yesterday, my brother fixed it, and it broke again today) so I have to debate if my brother can fix it again or if I need to go to the dealer. He fixed it last year and it worked all year, so who knows what it really is.

He is turning four. The cake will (hopefully) be decorated like a pokeball (pink and green for his favorite colors). Other than that, it is a pretty low key birthday.

I guess whether or not to go to the dealer depends on how much it costs! But enjoy reading and relaxing. That is always a great way to spend the weekend.

I just know young kids like themes, like pirates or Star Wars or construction. My brother had construction cakes every year until he was at least 7 or 8 and I'm pretty sure his favorite part was that he got the toys off the cake. He's not a big sweets person, so he barely ate the cake.

Yeah, I'll have my brother take another look at it. Luckily it's supposed to cool off ridiculously (from 93 today to 50s tomorrow night) so the AC isn't super critical. But summer's just starting.

I threw myself a May the Fourth party with friends and the entire menu was Star Wars themed and I had all the plates/cups too.

I made a sarlacc pit bundt rum cake.

It was a great success, I only wish I had taken a few more pictures! A lot of the food was really simple but really tasty and then we played the game Monikers, which is a great party game for a crowd who likes Cards Against Humanity.
