The link and show us. Honestly, people need to stop with this "feels like" crap because it's not fair that you could get someone's comment failbarred based on nothing but a vague feeling.

(Anonymous) 2017-05-20 09:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Now this comment is a repeat for sure, I've heard this whine before.

(Anonymous) 2017-05-20 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
You probably have. Because people keep thinking that they're the Repeat Police and cite possible repeat secrets even though they don't actually know for sure they're repeats. Which as I said, is not exactly fair.

Case doesn't delete shit without checking, so it's not much of a danger, is it?

(Anonymous) 2017-05-20 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Bullshit. Case deletes stuff all the time without a second though.

(Anonymous) 2017-05-20 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Case is usually careful, but yes, he has in the past deleted a secret based on someone's say so, without verifying it was indeed a repeat. It was my secret, which is how I know. I'd used a similar image to a previously posted secret (because decent images for the subject matter was limited) so I can understand the confusion, but even so - it was deleted without ANY confirmation or proof that it was a repeat.

DA

Was it put back up?

(Anonymous) 2017-05-20 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
No.

(Anonymous) 2017-05-20 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Case never restores stuff he wrongly deletes.

Just to clarify, I'm not talking about frozen or deleted comments. I think case does a good job with those. I'm only talking about putting secrets in the failbar for being repeats without actual confirmation that they've been posted before.

Thank you, case. I can't remember if I commented on the mistake at the time but I might not have done. For what it's worth, I do think it's a good idea to just leave possible repeat secrets up unless there's proof they're repeats. Often people think that the text of a secret sounds familiar so it's a repeat, but I know somebody who submits secret for FS occasionally takes comments from the GF thread and makes them into secrets. It's happened to me before (I don't mind) and given that the secret count for the community is down, I for one would vote to err on the side of caution.

Bullshit. He's deleted plenty of my shit, none of them what I'd call "wrongly" deleted - I would argue a few of them were grey areas - and he has always given me the opportunity to put it back up with edits. I ask for then text back and he gives it back.

(Anonymous) 2017-05-20 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
That doesn't sound like it was deleted without confirmation. it sounds like Case made a mistake confirming it due to the use of a similar image. which is a mistake but also a corner case.

(Anonymous) 2017-05-20 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Nobody posted a link to the actual secret to confirm that it was a repeat. Case probably didn't go looking for the first secret himself to confirm it, otherwise he would've seen the text was different. All it took was a well meaning person saying they "thought" my secret was a repeat and it was failbarred. To me, that is deleting it without confirmation.
