Or "keep it, it suits you"

Ahaha. I was thinking the EXACT same thing.

I should know what this is but I'm drawing a blank right now.

Thanks

100% agreed

I really like romantic storylines with people who are reserved, or odd, or generally unaccustomed to romance for whatever reason. I love it when you get that sense that they're really fighting to be as romantic as they can. it's just fucking perfect.

Any response to "I love you" that isn't "And I, you" automatically scores a lot of points with me. (Who talks like that? Why is that the standard response in fanfic?)

(Anonymous) 2017-05-23 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I have only ever known one person in my entire life who legitimately talks like that and I think it is because she really really likes old books and they have shaped her speech tendencies.

"'I surely am not unfond of you Peggy, I tell you what.' I mean what kind of a marriage proposal was that?"

Ditto.

This one's on the fucked up side but I LOVE this one: "Just fear me, love, do as I say and I will be your slave!"

Been on a Labyrinth kick and I have a fondness for Dark!Jareth and I do so love his and Sarah's dynamic.

(Anonymous) 2017-05-24 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
That IS a great line, though. :)

(Anonymous) 2017-05-24 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
I personally find them immensely cheesy and too try hard to the point where they don't make sense (i.e. The moon is beautiful, isn't it?) but hey you do you OP! However, I'm fond of the I love you, I love me too switcheroo.

(Anonymous) 2017-05-24 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
my ex starting to say "i know" instead of "i love you too" was my first warning that i was going to get dumped soon, so fuck that noise

(Anonymous) 2017-05-24 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
Yeaaaah... if I was in a relationship with someone and they said "I know" in response to "I love you," I don't think I'd like it, reference or not. It comes off poorly.

(Anonymous) 2017-05-24 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
...I don't find the 'I know' thing very romantic though? To me it's a more cocky 'of course you love me' and then not returning the sentiment. :/

(Anonymous) 2017-05-24 10:34 am (UTC)(link)
out of context I guess, but it's pretty obvious that Han loves Leia

(Anonymous) 2017-05-24 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
While I do love the "I'm done fond of you." And other alternatives, I always wonder if the person is actually trying to say they love the other or if they mean exactly what they're saying...
