I’ve never had big, bereft feelings of emotion and despair over a musician’s death. My world hasn’t been rocked. I don’t feel like it’s an end of an era and nothing will ever be the same. It’s just sad in the way that all death sad.
I don’t even have the excuse that their heyday was before my time. I’m 34. That’s prime Chris Cornell age, and Bowie and Prince were big in my formative years. It’s just...I’m not invested. At best, I was indifferent to their music, at worst, I didn’t like it.
* Everyone I know has just been absolutely gutted by these deaths, and I just can’t relate.
