When I was a teen I thought I'd hate the Lord of The Rings movies because 'no dragons'. Teenage me ate her own words and they are still some of my top favourite movies of all time and certainly my favourite trilogy.

And I thought I'd like Shadowhunters a lot less since all I saw to begin with was posts about how bad it was. But I figured I'd give it a shot thinking I'd stop watching after a few episodes and I ended up really liking it. It's stupid for sure but it has fun with itself and I like my TV on the cheesy to goofy side.

I thought I'd dislike them because the first time I tried to read the books as a kid I couldn't make it through. But I loved the movies. Then I read the books again and fell in love with Tolkien. Now they are my favorite movies.

Teen me wanted nothing but High Fantasy when it came to fantasy movies so I thought I'd be bored as hell. Oh ho was I wrong.

I list the entire LoTR trilogy in my #2 spot for favourite movies of all time because I love them that damn much.

I always thought I was a scifi girl. What I was into as a kid was in large part the Star Wars EU. But I eventually realized that I was a fantasy girl whose favorite scifi was all scifi with fantasy tones. Hard scifi has never been a favorite genre of mine.

I like both but nearly all of my favourite shows/movies have some kind of fantasy element to them, I just really prefer magic over technology apparently.

I've not seen/read much hard sci-fi so I can't say how much I like it.

Yup. I like magic, epic scale stuff, heroes' journey plotlines, that sort of thing. I've read some and enjoyed it. But not as much as I like things like Star Wars or Dune (which has tech but still feels very fantasy to me).

Okay, now when you watch Shadowhunters, look for which characters were which Harry Potter characters from the fanfic.

I honestly can't tell because I can't remember enough about Harry Potter.
