Jeez nintendo. Why you got to call Magikarp out like that?

There's an event where your Magikarp runs into a wild Pokemon, uses Splash, and does nothing! Then it needs to be rescued by your Pokemon companion.

I am playing it but I honestly have no idea what the point is? Is it just like a Tamagotchi type game with RNG fighting?

I think it's just to level up and see numbers get bigger. Like Cookie Clicker with upgrades and stuff.

collect all the different patterns, see all the random events, get all the things, etc.

Any time there's a new Pokemon game, I love seeing how they describe Magikarp. Sometimes it's even more harsh than that and it makes me laugh.
