Huh? JLawr's character is ambiguously brown in the books.

nayrt but while ambiguous is right as far as her looks go, her mom and sister are very white and blonde. I have no objection to theories that she is racially mixed, but I'd also say she is more likely white herself than not. mostly because she has a tendency to specifically describe the skin-tone of non-white characters, which is a very white characteristic thing to do.

Or she was in the sun a lot more than her sister and mom, which was the impression I got.

She was described as looking very different from her mom/sister multiple times. And anyway, the casting call was specifically for white actresses. They ignored the ambiguity of the books entirely, ofc people were be pissed.

She was described as olive skinned, which has historically been used to describe some white people, as well as non white. I was ambiguously brown, it wasn't unusual for me to be mistaken for another race, though I am white. White people aren't always pale, which is the OP's point.
