[Killing Stalking]

Sympathising with nobody is probably the best way to go in this fandom!

That art is pretty. What's this about?

The comic's title is a pretty literal description of the plot. lol Premise from chapter 1 is, the protagonist is a stalker and breaks into the home of the guy he stalks, only to, surprise, find that this guy regularly kidnaps, tortures, and murders people. It all kind of goes downhill for the protagonist from there. It's a psychological horror murder drama (and a BL.. sort of.)

The art is absolutely gorgeous, very detailed and consistent to a style. The first few chapters are free on Lezhin, though the very earliest chapters don't have quite as refined an art style yet, but it settles into it really quickly.

killing and also stalking

and a weird romanticization of murder and abusive relationships and like stockholm syndrome?

romanticizing murder and abusive relationships?

like maybe in the deepest depths of the fandom on tumblr but not in the comic itself, surely? I can't think of a comic marketed as BL that is quite as utterly devoid of romance as this one

i think this is another case of me thinking a thought and my fingers typing it out in a slightly wrong order, i meant romanticization of abusive relationships and stockholm syndrome. i've also seen ppl talk about how hot the serial killer dude is which is... one step up from the SK fandoms since at least he's not real? i guess?

i read a bit of the comic but it was a while ago and it was more out of morbid curiosity than anything so i'm sure my recollection is fuzzy, but i kind of got that sort of tone from it. and they market it as BL? i feel like it says a lot if that's how it's being marketed rather than horror as the main genre or something.

I mean, there's absolutely an enormous difference between saying a fictional comic book character is hot, and writing love letters to real serial killers. I don't think that's even comparable tbh

AS for the BL marketing, it's tagged as BL on Lezhin and that's how it's going to get the most views and make the most money. At any rate, I don't think having a BL element automatically means it is glorifying and romanticizing abuse? Sangwoo is consistently portrayed as an evil cunt that Yoon Bum is terrified of, and there hasn't been a moment of "aww, they are so cute and sweet together, love conquers psychopathy~ :D" (unless you're reading it with your eyes squeezed shut maybe, not saying there aren't fans out there who are crazy and interpret it all that way). Anyway, my point is the series isn't giving Sangwoo any sympathy from a narrative perspective, or Yoonbum's attraction to him, since Yoonbum is mentally ill and delusional. I actually think it's fine if people read it solely because they like BL, but so far there's just been so little in it that I'd actually consider BL. But hey, it's not for everyone.

I do sympathize with Yoonbum and definitely think he's a victim, but he's absolutely not innocent of any wrongdoing for sure and I don't think he's a good person, either. That being said, he's obviously extremely mentally disturbed and I think he needs therapy, not jail.
