That's 'They Might Be Giant's' fault, really. Blame them.

That said, I've spent days walking around with that in my head too.

Somebody did a study on earworm songs.

These may or may not work for you, but here are some things to try:

1. Sing another song, or play another melody on an instrument.

2. Switch to an activity that keeps you busy, such as working out.

3. Listen to the song all the way through (this works for some people).

4. Turn on the radio or a CD to get your brain tuned in to another song.

5. Share the song with a friend (but don't be surprised if the person become an ex-friend when he or she walks away humming the tune).

6. Picture the earworm as a real creature crawling out of your head, and imagine stomping on it.

Welcome to my world. I end up with it stuck in my head to the point where I just want to gouge out my brain. Such is life when I'm the only one babysitting my nephew.

COME INSIDE IT'S FUN INSIDE!

I work with kids. This song is either on, being sung by the kids, or being sung by the parents. It is everywhere.

Cute related story: I have a toddler at work that calls Mickey Mouse "hotdog" because of the hotdog dance they in this show. It's random, but super cute once you get what she's talking about.

Going completely OT, sorry; I've been at a kind of crossroads in terms of career/training and have been considering childcare. Do you have any tips in regards to the kind of training needed/what it involves? Sorry for derailing :(

you want to go into childcare in a professional setting (vs nanny or home care) get some classes under your belt, or try and volunteer at a center. I know ours won't hire without any 'classroom' experience. CPR and First Aid trainings are generally seen as needed. If you can, look into an Associates or CDA trainings. There are also a lot of free 'webinars' out there to get some training in - print off your certificates and bring them in if you apply to somewhere.

Seriously, if you want to talk more feel free to PM me if you have an account. I've worked in childcare for years now and could definitely help you out if interested.

I've found that singing the song or listening to it on loop helps calm the earworm. Don't fight it, OP!

I've been earwormed a million times with this song. Just the secret did it.

Hi, fellow parent.
