I could be wrong, but last I knew of, Tumblr does not have a commenting system that can support multiple pre-arranged threads in an organized and neat manner like Dreamwidth can. I'm trying to imagine people attempting to have conversations like they do here, on Tumblr, and it's giving me a headache.

It's not the people, it's the structure. I don't think I'd stay.

Ditto.

All you have to do is reblog. That creates a thread.

Not one that can be seen from the original post, afaik.

Yes it can. About a year or so ago every time someone comments on a post the words added to a post are all the first thing viewable when you click on the notes.

Not all of the comment, and it easily gets buried under "X reblogged this" and "Y liked this". Which is one thing when it's five notes, another when it's 50, 100, 1000 notes...

Plus for me sometimes instead of the reblogger's own comment, the preview is someone else's reblog they're answering to, which just makes things confusing.

Also, reblogging is.... fussy, to say the least. If you reblog the same source from two different people only your latest reply will show in the dropdown on tumblr.

Yeah, I'm not scrolling down a list of tiny "soso reblogged this" and "soso liked this", just to find one reblog that has a reaction with it.

A long string of reblogs gets pretty unwieldy and hard to read.

This, and unlike DW you can't click the later reblogs to get the text readable instead of
one
word
lines
like
this.
And in some themes the later reblog's text just go plain off the screen.
