You can thank FinnPoe-antis/salty Finnrey fans for torpedoing a good portion of his fandom.

*rolleyes*

(Anonymous) 2017-05-31 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
truth hurts. Their concern trolling pushed them over to klux because they got yelled at for not shipping a pure hetship and how oppressed their "progressive" straight ship was.

(Anonymous) 2017-05-31 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I just don't think there's very many people at all for whom that's actually true

I think most people who ship klux ship klux because they want to ship klux for whatever reason

(Anonymous) 2017-05-31 11:05 pm (UTC)(link)
It caused a significant people to either jump ship or stop enjoying Finn altogether. Antis and discoursers do more harm then good when it comes to ruining people's enjoyment and people don't want to sit through being called a racist/misogynist because they have to meet an arbitrary set of parameters to be not problematic. Klux shippers at least aren't in a shipwar and can ignore proghets altogether since antis hate Reylo too.

DA

Guys, it's Kylux.

...thank you for this comment, I was getting really confused (and concerned).

(Anonymous) 2017-06-01 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
Legit my bad. I don't know anything about the ship or its proper name and I've seen it called that in certain circles and I never made the connection. Now that I look at it yikes @ me. Shoulda googled it.

(Anonymous) 2017-06-01 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
LOL, yeah, I did a bit of a double take, too. Damned odd-sounding portmanteaus :p.

People ship because of what they want to ship. They can feel forced to stop openly shipping one ship, but no one ever started to ship another because they felt it was the only alternative. It's not like you are required to ship at all.

(Anonymous) 2017-05-31 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
You clearly have never dealt with proghets browbeating people with biphobia and eat your veggies femslash. Shipping is not required but antis can sour you on a character in general to the point where you jump over to the people having fun.

See: Fallout, Voltron, and Bioware fandom.

There's shipwank in Fallout?

(Anonymous) 2017-06-01 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
Not the typical kind but in a you're a misogynist and biphobic if you don't ship M/F, or if you have to ship slash consider either f/f as a wild college experience to titulate but mean nothing and end in m/f or write mfm where it's about her and her boys and the balls don't touch because ew that's gay. Migratory bioware fandom invaded and chased out the gay creators and then left fandom in ruins when Andromeda came out.

The old kinkmeme basically has all the drama up in the mod thread.

wait are you talking about Bioware fandom in the first place here, or Fallout?

(Anonymous) 2017-06-01 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
in the comment you replied to? Fallout. It was bad to begin with. Then fallout 4 happened and a bunch of bioware cullenwives/solaswives migrated making it the literal worst.

oh, ok. I wondered if that's what you meant but wasn't sure sorry.

I didn't even think shipping was big in Fallout. but then so far I have only played FONV so

DA

Fallout 4 introduced romances with the player character's followers, which is what attracted Bioware fans and led to increasing amounts of ship-related wank as described by AYRT.

ohhhhhhhh. ok yeah that makes a lot of sense.

(Anonymous) 2017-06-01 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
That's the point whete I just read fic and avoid all other fandom interactions.

(Anonymous) 2017-05-31 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. I totally love John Boyega and Finn. But if you ship certain pairings and try to post/reblog/contribute in any way to that part of the fandom? The shit storm that's kicked up is just not worth it.
