Yes! I only just watched the first two Halloween movies for the first time recently. And I loved them (though I did not love the remake and couldn't even make it through the first one). They hold up really well. They are actually scary, and while there is gore (especially in the second one), they rely mostly on atmosphere and it is great.

The first Halloween particularly, so much of the tension comes literally just from camera positioning and cinematography. It's amazing.
